DPI stands for dots per inch and measures how far your cursor moves on screen for each inch of mouse movement on your desk. A mouse set to 400 DPI moves the cursor less distance than one at 1600 DPI for the same physical motion. Most gaming mice offer DPI settings via onboard buttons or proprietary software, ranging from 400 to 3200 or higher.
In-game sensitivity is a separate multiplier that some games apply to raw mouse input. Valorant uses decimal values (0.1 to 2.0), while Fortnite uses percentages (5% to 100%). - Valorant: Pros typically play 240–400 eDPI. The agent abilities and ability-dependent play favour tighter aim control than pure gunplay.
- Fortnite: Pro range spans 32–82 eDPI (since Fortnite uses percentage sensitivity, these numbers reflect DPI × %/100). The emphasis on building and rapid target switching created a wider spread than tactical shooters.
- Overwatch: 800–1400 eDPI depending on hero and playstyle. Hitscans favour lower eDPI; projectile heroes and supports sometimes run higher.

Comparing Sensitivity Across Different Games
eDPI cannot be directly compared between different games because each title scales sensitivity differently and demands different mechanical skills. A Valorant player's 300 eDPI does not feel like a Fortnite player's 50 eDPI, even though both numbers describe the same concept.
To truly compare sensitivity across titles, use cm/360—the physical distance your mouse travels on your desk to rotate your view 360° in-game. Measure this by marking your starting position, making a full in-game turn, and measuring the distance travelled. This number represents real-world muscle memory and is consistent across any game.

- Disable mouse acceleration entirely — Operating system mouse acceleration (Windows pointer speed) and in-game acceleration are invisible multipliers that destroy consistent muscle memory. Turn both off in your OS and game settings. Your physical arm motion should always produce the same in-game rotation, regardless of how fast you move.
- Account for sensitivity scaling when importing settings — Some games use percentage sensitivity (0–100), others decimal (0–2). A friend's 0.8 sensitivity in CS:GO is not the same number as 80% sensitivity in Fortnite. Always verify your friend's game and sensitivity type before matching their eDPI.
